We particularly want to encourage people to promote their crafts, hobbies and collections.
We would also like to build up a small group of professionals, to whom people living abroad can turn for help in Wales. This would include solicitors, estate agents, holiday apartment rentals, employment agencies, hotels, car hire and anything else that could be useful to someone living abroad who has maybe lost touch with local firms or has never known any!
The scheme allows any firm to accept credit card payments for their goods and services without having to have a merchant account.Here are a few examples:
For the hobbyist, a simple page or two would probably be quite adequate. If the range of products is limited, then there will be little adjustment to the pages required, keeping costs to an absolute minimum - about £40 set-up fees and 20% of sales.
For an ‘international’ car-boot seller, a few more pages may be required and the range of items would probably change weekly, involving more work for us and so, additional costs - to be arranged, but maybe £60 set-up fees and a fixed monthly fee of, say, £40, depending on how much work and space is required, no sales dependent fees.
For an estate agent, pages would have to be updated quite often, involving extra work and cost, although in this example, WPO would not expect a 20% sales charge – it would be expressed in the monthly hosting and maintenance charge.
For a hotelier, a solicitor or similar company, a single static page would be sufficient involving little monthly change. A fixed fee could be arranged.
A builder may want to add photographs of his latest (or biggest, or most prestigious) jobs.
An artist may display various works for sale or projects that he/she would be prepared to undertake. A merchant would be sent orders at wholesale prices and he would dispatch direct to the customer. Cash with order, of course.
The idea is to make international web-based sales available to everyone at an affordable rate, say, £40 per month, which is less than the cost of one small advertisement in a local paper and is tax deductible.
